The NBA world awoke to the news that one of the finest bench players in NBA history was calling it quits.
After 17 years in the NBA, Lou Williams, who last played for the Atlanta Hawks, is calling it quits.
The veteran guard used a 2-minute film from his career to communicate the news with followers on social media.

The Philadelphia 76ers picked Williams, 36, with the 45th overall choice in the 2005 NBA draft.
He played for the Sixers for seven years before moving on to five other NBA clubs.
Williams has played for the Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Atlanta Hawks.
Williams’ greatest years were spent with the Los Angeles Clippers, when he averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 261 games.
He has earned Sixth Man of the Year three times in his career, first with the Toronto Raptors in 2015 and then with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2018 and 2019.
Individually, the guard had a fantastic career, as he was one of the league’s top sixth man during his prime.
During his 17-year NBA career, he averaged 13.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 1,123 regular-season games.
